Profile

Born and raised in the Netherlands, it was there that at the age of three I started playing with needle and thread. My mothers sewing kit and left over fabrics weren't safe for even a second!

Coming from a long line of dressmakers and tailors, this wasn't a big surprise to my parents.

At the age of 6, I got to know the fashion designer profession by watching the soap "the Bold and the Beautiful". Ever since my future was set in my mind.

During my teens I mostly focused on dress-up outfits for the annual celebration of Carnaval. Costumes allowed me to go over the top and explore. 60s style Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Spice from the Batman films. They weren't made perfectly, but they were a start of understanding patterns.

At 17 I started my dressmaking studies and in 5 years earned two diploma's, Costumiere and Coupeuse. My dream of creating was coming true! Now it was time to realise my other dream that started at a very young age as well. My move to the UK.

In 2003 at the age of 22 I moved to Banbury, together with my Border Collie dog, Darcy. Here I succesfully did my Fashion degree course at the Oxford and Cherwell Valley College. During my time there I was a finalist at the Clotheshow Live 2004, for the Young Designer of the Year Award. I didn't win the award, but I did gain the experience of seeing my design on the catwalk, seen by the general public. It was amazing!

The final year was closed with an exhibit at the Graduate Fashion Week in London and a final year fashion show at the Banbury Museum. The feeling of having arrived in the fashion world was a dream come true.

September 2006, was another highlight in my life, I got married. My husband was sent to Dubai for 6 months and I went with him. 6 months I got the time to gain inspiration and work on things for myself.

Which resulted in my decision of becoming freelance on the 3rd of July, 2007. I named my company ARDutch, A for Addison, R for Robbe and Dutch for my nationality. Since starting I have worked for designers and private clients and enjoy everyday of it!

My plan for the future is having a collection out for everyone to enjoy!
